The award, which is presented annually by the Michigan Green Building Collaborative (MiGBC), highlighted Pleasant Lake Elementary for reducing its energy costs by almost 17% in 2024 as a result of upgrades from the 2019 Bond.

The building upgrades took place in the summer of 2023 and included improvements to the building envelope, installation of high efficiency equipment and enhancements to the energy management system.

“It is an honor to accept this award on behalf of Walled Lake Consolidated Schools,” said the district’s energy manager Melinda Miller. “This achievement is a reflection of the unwavering support of our community, whose approval of the 2019 Bond made these projects possible. We are proud to continue building a brighter future together.”
